Woops. Sorry about that.
I was going to post this yesterday, but my internet was down. (You know how it is gettin' that free wi-fi. It's a crap shoot)
To start off. I <3 Alchemist. Always have. Probably always will. (Unless he comes out with some really dumb shit)
I was super geeked to hear he had been working with Eminem then got even more hyped when I heard about Chemical Warfare.
I took a listen. Here is my blow by blow review (Pause)
1. ALC Theme (Feat. Kool G Rap) : Classic Alc beat. Flow is pretty fluid on this one. Kool G gets pretty gully on this track. I wish Alc rhymed more often.
2. Lose Your Life (Feat. Snoop Dogg & Jada Kiss & Pusha T): I got this track for free from the Rock The Bells download, but I didn't get a chance to listen to it right away. I love pretty much everything Jada does so I was geeked. Lately I'm pretty skeptical about Snoop's songs.
3. Chemical Warfare (Eminem): AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH. What's with this Triumph accent??? I seriously can't get past it. His flow is ill, but that accent distracts me to no end.
4. Grand Concourse Benches (Feat. KRS-One): I don't know who didn't put Alc and Ev on the Detroit bill, but that was some bullshit. KRS' flow rings relevancy and still in the classic KRS style. Check out his track called "DJs" with DJ Revolution. If you are a shitty DJ I recommend you don't listen to this song. Your feelings will get hurt. I mean I know some shitty DJs and my feelings are hurt for them! Real talk.
5. Therapy (Feat. Evidence, Blu, Talib & Kid Cudi): Wow! What a fucking line up! I usually get a little nervous when there are more than 4 cats on one track. But this one was pretty organized. No hype man syndrome* ...MMMM Evidence. Whenever Alc & Ev get together you can sense the chemistry immediatley. The riffs on this track are bananas. The thing I love about Alc is he makes beats that are PERFECT for the mc on the track. There are a lot of stellar producers and beat makers in the world. But Alc is always on some epic shit. The end of this one is great...with the random-ass noises, drops and samples....super funny.
6. That'll Work (3 Six Mafia and Juvenille): Woop! Banger beat on this one! But where has three six and Crunchy Black** been? Juvee? What up playa! I would've preferred T.I. on this one.
7. Smile (Feat. Maxwell & Twista): ooooo. I'm super happy to hear Maxwell on stratight hip hop shit. Fantastic.
8. Keep The Heels On (Feat. Prodigy): O snap! "Pick you up at lunch...backseatin' it...so you can't concentrate at work" ...Wow. I miss nasty raps about sex. TMI? Maybe. "Sloppy face diva catch a breatha, cuz her jaw hurt" LMAO! This is my favorite one on the cd.
9. Gangrene (Feat. Gangrene) (Ohno & Alchemist): I wish I was in the studio when this song was being recorded. Pretty gully. Get a Mob Deep x Wu vibe off of this one. Like it. "Alchemy was and is an advanced spiritual discipline"
10. Lights, Camera, Action (Feat. Lil' Flame of M.O.P.): AAAAAAANTE UP!
11. Some Gangsta Shit (Feat. F-A-B-O): I kind of hate Fabolous, but when he gets a tasty beat he aight. The first 10 seconds are CRACK! "You're swagger's on viagra keep it up son" seriously?
12. On Sight (Feat. Dogg Pound & Lady of Rage): Whaaat? LOR? Really??? Yess. A female MC that is not Missy or Fergie!!!
13. Take A Look Back: This one is probably my second favorite one. Excellent. No features. Crack!
14. Under Seige: 4 Star General Type Shit.
